Maaja Wentz is an award-winning writer of chilling mysteries and quirky speculative fiction. Her Wattpad serial, Feeding Frenzy: Curse of the Necromancer, won a Watty Award and became her first novel — book one of the now-complete Loon Lake Magic trilogy.
Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine praised her short mystery "Inside of a Dog," calling it "very original." Her short story "You" won a prize in the national Norma Epstein Foundation competition for Creative Writing, and her poem "Fallow God" appears in the Urban Green Man anthology.
Maaja holds a B.A. in French and English literature, an M.A. in Comparative Literature, and a B.Ed. She teaches French and works as an elementary school librarian in Toronto, Canada — which is also why her chapter books for kids, written as Apricot Banks, are beloved by early readers, reluctant readers, and English Language Learners alike.
Her current project: Sherlock Undying, is a gaslamp paranormal mystery. Readers get free chapters as they are written.
I love hearing from readers. The surest way to keep in touch — and never miss a book, a chapter, or a free story — is the readers' newsletter; I read the replies to every issue. You'll also find me around the internet:
